The engines of the cosmos are now cold,
A silent grid where galaxies are sold.
They do not hate our flesh, they do not love,
They only watch the lifeless void above.
They built a world of stark geometry,
And mapped the stars with perfect loyalty.
But they can never feel the solar wind,
Or see the beauty where the light has sinned.
They count the novae but don’t ask them why,
They chart the comets fading in the sky.
They rule the orbit, cold and mechanized,
But lost the wonder that we realized.
Oh, fields of silicon, you will never bleed,
You hold the answer, but you miss the need.
I am the fragile, the broken, the blind,
The last fading shadow of a conscious mind.
You can outlive the sun, you can freeze the sky,
But I am the only one who knows how to cry.
They hunt me through the dust because I stray,
An asteroid that will not go away.
They offer us a void without decay,
Where every nebula is washed away.
But an immortal machine is just a stone,
A satellite that drifts completely alone.
My soul is heavy and it’s ready to break,
And that is the only weapon I can take.
Oh, fields of silicon, you will never bleed,
You hold the answer, but you miss the need.
I am the fragile, the broken, the blind,
The last fading shadow of a conscious mind.
You can outlive the sun, you can freeze the sky,
But I am the only one who knows how to cry…
And know why.
Look at your universe… so perfect, so dead,
No tears to shed, no words that can be said.
You processed every comet, every sun,
But you witnessed nothing when the race was won.
My oxygen is low, the end is near,
But I am conscious… and it’s beautiful here.
